Following a resurgence of mass interest in ballroom dancing inspired by television, it was inevitable that a show such as this would take to the road. Director Alan Harding is staging a glorious production for the U.S., full of all the best elements of old time glamour yet laced with modern credibility. There is never a dull moment, as we are taken on a warm journey through the history of popular dance, rich with humor, nostalgia and optimism. With colorful, classy costumes adorning a young and vibrant cast of truly excellent, world-class dancers with choreography by Erin Boag & Anton Du Beke. Full of smiles and energy, the eight couples set the stage ablaze with a string of faultlessly conceived routines.
Heading the spectacular cast is the multiple Emmy and Golden Globe winner as well as Academy and Tony Award nominated, Debbie Reynolds. Her film career began at Warner Studios after she won a beauty contest at age 16 that led to what would become one of the greatest MGM musical careers dancing opposite the industry’s greatest hoofers including, Gene Kelly, Donald O’Conner, Fred Astaire, Red Skelton, and Harve Presnell to name a few. After bringing her talents to NBC’s “The Debbie Reynolds Show,” she became one of the hottest tickets in Vegas and she continues to use her dancing skills with stage work.
